Jay Carter passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids at the age of 54.
He was born February 24, 1971 to Daniel and Jeneice (Navratil) Bommersbach in Wheaton, Minnesota.
Jay was a kind, sensitive, and generous soul—someone who could fix nearly anything you put his hands to. Handy and resourceful, he built gardens, crafted projects, and was always ready to lend a hand. A true lover of nature and animals, he found joy and peace in the simple beauty of the outdoors.
One of his greatest passions was riding his Harley, a symbol of the freedom and spirit he carried through life. He grew up in Pine City, Minnesota, and later ventured to Louisiana, where he thrived in the technology field, specializing in audio and video installations. In time, he returned home to be close to family and to embrace the demanding yet fulfilling work of the farm.
He had a special tenderness for the women in his life, especially his mother and grandmother, whom he loved and respected deeply. His devotion was evident in the many things he built for his mom—each piece a lasting reflection of his care and thoughtfulness.
Though his life ended far too soon, he left a memorable mark on all who knew him. We will remember him in the rumble of a Harley, the sight of a Tasmanian Devil sticker, and in every repair or creation that bears his touch. His spirit endures in the love he gave and the memories he left behind.
Jay is survived by his mother Jeneice Carter of Pine City; sisters Shannon Carter of Pine City, Jackie Penner (Kim Kroeger) of Clear Lake; nephews Jeffrey, J.D.; aunts, uncles and cousins; close companion Sheree Schusted of Iowa; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Dan Bommersbach; stepfather Ross Carter; grandparents Len and Bing Navratil, Tony and Rosa Bommersbach.
Celebration of Life planned for Jay: 11 AM-3 PM; Saturday, October 4, 2025 with a Time of Sharing at 12:00 noon, at the farm (3470 Bucktail Drive, Grasston, MN).
