Jay Daniel Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Jay Daniel on December 27, 2024 in Gilchrist, TX. Jay was born on March 15, 1972. Jay graduated from the Colorado State University with a degree in Cellular Molecular Biology. Jay was known by many as being intelligent, adventurous, an animal lover, and fun-loving. Jay spent several years as a paramedic and firefighter at Durango Fire & Rescue. He was very proud of his achievements in this field. Jay owned Random Tasks Handyman Services in Durango and JayLa's Bar & Grill in Texas with his partner Laura McKinney. Jay is survived by his mother and father, Terri and Kevin Mahon, brother Nate Mahon and his wife Cindy Mahon along with their family, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8th at 3p.m. at the Durango Elks Lodge, 901 E. 2nd Avenue, Durango, CO. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Feel free to bring an appetizer or dessert if you desire. Jay was 52.

I am sorry for your loss. I knew Jay from Durango and we were friends for some time. Jay was a good man and was always positive and funny. Jay cared about his friends, family and the community. He will be missed by many that had the opportunity to get to know him. I hope you all find peace.

Jay was a friend and a character, loved being around him as most did. I am sure God is got a look on his face saying to himself....does Jay ever stop talking... LOL Jay my friend you will be missed.
