Jay "Scott" Harris

HARRIS, Jay, "Scott," 57, went to be with the Lord, our Savior on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at home surrounded by family after a two-year courageous battle with Ewing's Sarcoma. He is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Bonnie Williams-Harris; mother, Elizabeth Lishen (Ross); sister, Kelly Bingham (Lance); brother, Jeff Harris (Kelly); mother-in-law, Debra Williams; sisters-in-law, Terry Miller and Amy Henderson (Walter); nieces, Brittany Werth (Blue), Olivia and Emma Henderson; nephews, Cody Bingham (Carylynne), Ian and Brock Harris, Logan and Thomas Miller; many extended family members; and his devoted, much loved, faithful canine daughter, Truffle. He was predeceased by his father, Orville Lee Harris. Scott was employed with Ukrop's Super Markets and Martin's Food for 35 years. Most recently, Scott was employed as a buyer with Performance Food Group. Scott was a huge enthusiast of all sports, with a special love for softball, golf, Alabama Football…"Roll Tide" and an adopted love for Richmond Spiders basketball. The family will receive friends at Bliley's-Chippenham on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Bon Air Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, with burial following at Dale Memorial Park. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Scott's medical team, Dr. James Zelenak, Dr. Joseph Evers and the staff at Virginia Cancer Institute, Dr. David Randolph Sr. (Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at HCA CJW), Dr. Johann Hsu (UVA Health), Dr. Peter Anderson (Cleveland Clinic) and St. Mary's 6 East Oncology nursing staff. All of them helped in making this awful, challenging battle with Ewing's Sarcoma a little easier.
