Jay Lorus Johnson, 91, passed away in Roy Utah on January 5th, 2025. Born August 14, 1933, in Tabiona, Utah to John Lamar Johnson and Reba M Turnbow Johnson. He graduated from Orem Utah Lincoln High School in 1951 where he and his future bride Norma Jean Wagstaff were king and queen of the Senior Hop. He was married to his lifelong friend and sweetheart on April 17, 1953, in the Salt Lake temple.

Jay was president of the Supere Aude society his senior year of high school and participated in volleyball and tennis. He enlisted in the U.S Air Force in February of 1952 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sargent in February of 1956. During his military enlistment he served as a Cryptographer in the office of communications of the National Security Agency during the Korean War and received commendations for his excellent service. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and was employed by Orem City and Dee Andersen corporation as an accountant. He was employed in 1963 with defense logistics and retired with over 40 years of service. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served under three stake presidencies as executive secretary and clerk. He also served as a high councilor and ward clerk.

Jay is survived by 5 children: Lori Rose of Roy, Utah; Jay (Tammy) Johnson of Tabor, Iowa; Jerry (Sandy) Johnson of Fredricksburg, Virginia; Lisa (Brent) Odenwalder of Hooper, Utah; Jeffery (Jill) Johnson of Syracuse, Utah; brothers: Lee and Richard. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Norma; brother Lisle; sisters: Glena and Wilda; parents: John and Reba. Jay leaves a beautiful legacy of 25 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Roy 16th Ward, 4524 South 2525 West. The family will meet with friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Saturday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. 

Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
