Jay Ronald "Ron" Johnston, age 83, of Indian Land SC, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at home.The family is hosting a private celebration of life. Born in Houston, Texas, Ron was the son of the late John Roland Johnstone and Mildred Teenor Johnstone. He grew up in Hagerstown, Maryland, where he graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1958. Ron proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until 1962 and served on three different ships. He was the owner of The Negative Shop on East Boulevard in Charlotte, N.C. Ron enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Surviving is his wife, Phoebe Jeanne Foard Johnston; his children, Montgomery "Monty" Foard Johnston (Jamie) of Indian Land and Ronda Jean Johnston Patterson (Scott) of Fort Mill; five grandchildren, Morgan Johnston Little (Woods), Macie Johnston, and Ally Patterson Krol (Clayton), Sydney Patterson, and Jay Patterson; and his great-grandchild, Phoebe Little. He was preceded in death by his brother, Captain James Montomery Johnstone (who was shot down in Laos in December of 1966).Memorials may be made to: American Diabetes Association, P.O.
