Jay Keller Obituary

Jay Maurice Keller, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Perry, Utah, on Friday,

January 30, 2026.

Jay was born on December 15, 1937, in Mantua, Utah, to Leota Nelson Keller and Lloyd

Keller. He was a devoted husband to Marianna Eliason Keller, the love of his life, who

preceded him in death March 22, 2025. Their Marriage in the Logan LDS Temple, April 3,

1959 was marked by faith, service, and deep devotion to family.

Jay was a loving father to Susan (Greg) Obray, Maurine (Ken) Quayle, Karen (Randy)

Rapp, and Steven (Charlene) Keller. He was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren:

Brandon Wyatt, Brett (Alexa) Wyatt, Nichole (Josh) Fulgham, Kody (Tressa) Quayle,

Joshua (Danni) Quayle, Jared (Lindsey) Quayle, Kevin (Amanda) Rapp, Nathan

(Nikole) Rapp, Kaylee (Kyle) Prigmore, Ryan Rapp, Kendra (Josh) Shurtliff, Jocelyn

Keller, and JD Keller, and a cherished great-grandfather to 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Geri, Preston, and Ann; His daughter,

Karen Rapp, his grandson Jesse Keller; and his great-granddaughter Leona Rapp.

Jay was known for his strong work ethic, a value he proudly passed on to his children. After

graduating from Box Elder High School, he joined the United States Army and later served

several years in the Army National Guard. He worked at Thiokol before he and his brother

Preston started their own construction business in Brigham City, where Jay built not only

structures but lasting relationships.

In retirement, Jay dedicated much of his time to serving others. Alongside Marianna, he

delivered Meals on Wheels and served faithfully at the Brigham City Temple. A lifelong

and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jay served in

many callings, including the Bishopric, Executive Secretary, and Scouting, always giving

his time freely and quietly.

Jay loved the outdoors-hunting, fishing, and hiking the mountains around Mantua. His

favorite place on earth was the duck marsh west of Brigham, where he could sit for hours

simply enjoying the peace, even without firing a shot.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with a viewing from

10:30-11:45 a.m., at the Perry Stake Center, 685 W 2250 S, Perry, Utah. Interment will

follow at the Mantua City Cemetery. Jay's services will be live streamed at www.gilliesmorturay.com/Jay-Keller obituary.

Jay will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family extends heartfelt thanks

to the members of the Perry 8th Ward and Gillies Mortuary for their kindness, love, and support.
