Jay Wallace Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center - Murray on May 15, 2025.
Jay Kenneth Wallace passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 29, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on December 29, 1935, in Murray, Utah, Jay was one of four children born to Kenneth and Afton (Smith) Wallace. His life was defined by deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and to God.
On November 22, 1963, Jay was united in eternal marriage to Mary Dee Ann in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they built a life rooted in love and service, and were blessed with two beloved children, Ashley and Trevor.
Jay's professional journey with Texaco took the family from Utah to Arizona, then El Paso, and finally to Houston, where he spent the remainder of his career until his retirement in 1995. Through every transition, Jay led with calm determination and a steady heart.
A devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, Jay served faithfully as a temple worker for twenty years. He gave generously of his time and talents in various church callings-guiding Scouts, teaching Primary with his dear wife at his side, and uplifting those around him with his quiet example of faith and kindness.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Dee Ann Wallace; his daughter, Ashley (James) Dyess; and his sisters, Wanda Aguirre and Charla Erickson. He was preceded in death by his son, Trevor Wallace; his brother, Dale Wallace; and his parents, Kenneth and Afton Wallace.
Jay's life was one of quiet integrity, deep compassion, and enduring faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be laid to rest at Elysian Burial Gardens, Millcreek, Utah.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
