J.B. Long

John "J.B." Long, 80, of Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025 following a long illness. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Todd Lester officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.

J.B. was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on May 26, 1945, to the late Thomas B. Long and Jane Wells Long. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1963 where he was formerly known as "Johnny" to his classmates and was part of the 1962 State Champions Golf Team. He was a member of the Kentucky National Guard 1966-1972 with the 2113th Transportation Company. He also was the founder and former owner of J.B. Long & Son Body Shop before passing the business down to his son after retirement many years ago. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son, watching NASCAR, and tinkering with his boat.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Gilliam Long; his son, John Long (Shari); and two grandchildren; Matthew Long and Cassie Long. He is also survived by his sister, Janie McCord.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Angie McCord.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

We so appreciate the love and kindness J.B. received from the staff during his time there. Also, we want to thank Bluegrass Care Navigators for being with J.B., as well as Right At Home Care & Assistance Caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
