Edward Rofaxen 'Roe' Rogers, Jr. 94, passed away on Friday October 31, 2025. He was born on October 16, 1931, in Frankfort, KY to Edward R., Sr. and Addie Louise (Hieatt) Rogers. He was preceded in death in 2024 by his wife of 68 years, Martha Jane Rogers.
Roe attended Frankfort High School, class of 1950 and after serving in the Navy during the Korean War, attended the University of Kentucky. During his career in business/finance, he worked for UK, KY State Government Parks Department and the Department of Revenue, serving as Commissioner. After retirement, M.J. and Roe enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Bonita Springs, FL. He loved to fish and also became an avid nature photographer. His photos won many ribbons in the KY State Fair Photography competition each year. He was a huge UK basketball/football fan and enjoyed watching the games in these later years with his son.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey C. Rogers and daughter, Cindy R. Armstrong (Lou) of Louisville; granddaughters, Laura C. Armstrong (Keane Barger) of Washington, D.C. and C. Taylor Armstong (David Walters) of Odenton, MD; and great-grandchildren, Losson and Everett Barger and Eleanor (Lanie) Walters.
He loved nothing more than his life and family history in Frankfort and missed it very much after moving to Louisville when health issues deemed it necessary. He will be returned to the Rogers family plot in the Frankfort Cemetery.
Donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Frankfort, where they were dedicated members, The Parkinson's Foundation or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and aides in 4 East and the palliative care unit of Baptist Health and Forest Springs Health Center who provided his care and support.
