On May 29, 2022, at age 83, Jean Ann Bost (Shively) of Allison Park, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Jean was a graduate of Carrick HS and obtained her nursing degree at Allegheny General Hospital Training School for Nurses, Pittsburgh, PA where she remained on the alumni board. She was a lifelong nurse in a variety of settings, retiring in 2001 from the cardiology unit at Allegheny General Hospital. Jean was born and raised in Pittsburgh. Jean met her husband, Harry W. Bost, in 1955 at Camp Lutherlyn, Prospect, PA and were long time members of First Lutheran Church, and most recently St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland. Jean and Harry were married over 55 years and raised their family in Carrick before moving to Glenmoor Farms, Gibsonia, and Jean currently resides at Highpointe Concordia, Allison Park.
Jean leaves behind her cherished children Jeffrey (Kathy), Robert (Courtney), Cheryl: grandchildren Stephanie, Holly (Tim Bock), Christian (Emily), Alyssa (fiancé Frederick Riggins): great-grandson Brooks; grand dogs; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends. Jean was preceded by her husband Harry, parents Mildred and Walter, and brother John G. Shively.
Friends received Friday 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. at Simons Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Hwy. Funeral service will be held in St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland, 311 Cumberland Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237 on Saturday at 11 a.m. Jean was a 25 year kidney recipient transplant survivor due to polycystic kidney disease (PKD). She served as a top fundraiser for PKD through the Pittsburgh Chapter PKD walk and spread awareness of PKD and organ donation by appearing on radio shows, writing articles, and speaking engagements.
