Jean Marie Brutvan

Jean Marie Brutvan (nee Gurnicz), a longtime resident of Shelby Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the age of 84. A daughter of Walter and Helen Gurnicz, she was born on December 2, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan. Jean was a woman whose life was defined by generosity, devotion, and a heart that never stopped caring for others.

Jean spent her life nurturing everyone around her. She was the one you could count on-steady, warm, and endlessly giving. Whether she was offering a listening ear, sharing a home-cooked meal, or finding small ways to make someone's day brighter, Jean's kindness left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.

She loved her pets dearly and found joy in their companionship. Some of her happiest memories were made while traveling with her husband, John, exploring new places together and cherishing the simple adventure of being side by side.

Above all else, Jean's pride and joy was her son, Scott. Becoming a grandmother to Olivia was her greatest gift, and she treasured every moment spent with her. Her love for her family was deep, unwavering, and beautifully expressed in the way she lived each day.

Beloved wife of the late John. Loving mother of Scott (Johanna) Brutvan of Royal Oak. Cherished grandmother of Olivia. Dear sister of Elaine and Carol. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Jean will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Directors, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd. (four blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak. Jean will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
