Jean Cappuchi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carrier Family Funeral Home & Crematory - Windham on Mar. 6, 2026.
Jean T. (Pecci) Cappuchi, 75, of Salem, NH, passed peacefully at BMC Brighton hospital on March 4, 2026.

Jean was born on May 24,1950 in Lawrence, MA. She is the daughter of the late Adele (Longo) and Emile "Dempsey" Pecci. She was raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts and attended local schools. She went on to earn her nursing degree from Laboure School of Nursing in Boston and shortly after began her career at Bon Secours Hospital. As a nurse, she also worked at the Salem Walk-In Clinic and substituted as a school nurse in the Salem school district. At one point she ventured into real estate, getting her license and working for a local realtor. Her passion for nursing led her to becoming an occupational nurse working at Textron and later Raytheon, where she retired at the age of 72.

Jean also proudly served with the American Red Cross during Hurricane Katrina. She bravely traveled into uninhabitable conditions to aid others despite her own fears.

At the age of 14, she met the love of her life, Joseph Cappuchi. The two later married on May 16, 1972. They purchased their home and raised their family in Salem, New Hampshire. She and her husband created a warm, loving home where they always welcomed family and friends to join them. There were many wonderful times where she hosted Sunday dinners, cookouts, family parties, especially the annual Cappuchi Christmas Eve, and other gatherings. Around the neighborhood and to all her children's friends she was known as Mrs. C.

She loved gardening, was always up for a game of 45s, a trip to the casino, and treasured traveling with family and friends. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and wisdom that will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and lifelong friends. Jean leaves behind a legacy of love and family.

Jean is survived by her son, Christopher Cappuchi and his wife Valerie of Windham, NH, her son, Joel Cappuchi and his wife Melissa of Salem,NH, and her daughter, Lisa Cappuchi of Salem, NH. She also leaves behind her two sisters-in-law, Brenda Cappuchi and Shirley D'Angelo. She was known as 'Nana' to her grandchildren, Adriana, Ashton, Gavin, and Joseph, whom she adored. She has a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Anthony Cappuchi, Jr.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at Carrier Funeral Home. Entombment to follow at the Eternal Light Mausoleum, 23 Pond Street, Salem, NH 03079.
