It is with a very heavy heart that we share the passing of Jean Plaisance Chiasson, 79, a native of Cut Off and resident of Lockport. She passed away on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will take place at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland on Wednesday, 4/13/22 from 9:00 am. till service time. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am with burial following in the Church Mausoleum.
Mrs. Jean is survived by her husband of 65 years, Henry Chiasson, Jr., daughters: Debi Seltzer (Rob), Cheryl Bruce (Neil), Sandy Glover (Mark); son: Billy Chiasson (Melissa); Grandchildren: Nick (Brena); Matthew (Whitney); Taylor (Alaina); Maxwell; Connor (Triston); Spencer (Hayley); Emma, Olivia; Great Grandchild: Emily; Sisters: Janice Johansen & Linda Johnson (Ronald), and many, many nieces, and nephews that she loved.
Mrs. Chiasson was preceded in death by her parents: Edgar & Lenora Plaisance; brother: Bobby Plaisance; In-laws: Henry (Nursey) & Helen Chiasson; brother-in-law, Karl Johansen.
Jean could always be found in the kitchen, with her love for cooking and hosting family gatherings. She was a community builder for anything she was involved in. She was a retired Hair Stylist of 30 years, served as the Treasurer of the Lockport Carnival Club for 45 years, coordinated Senior Tours to various Casinos, loved going to the gym and spending time at the camp on Grand Isle. She was a generous supporter of local Charities. She was a kind and compassionate woman who never met a stranger and always had an extra place setting for anyone who dropped in. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved her.
Special thanks to Ochsner St. Anne Hospital and the amazing staff who helped Mom. The care provided by the Emergency Department, 3rd Floor staff and the Intensive Care Unit made a trying situation more bearable for Mom and our family. We want to especially thank Dr's Knight, Duplantis, Hartman and Nawaz; the 3rd floor staff: Amanda, Shannon and the very compassionate nurse's assistant; the ICU staff: Jacob, Ellen, Kim, Julie, Sharica, Lacey, Roxanne, Winnie, & Fredrica. We also want to thank Dr. Michael Marcello who has taken care of our family for more than 30 years.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Second Harvest Food Bank at the following link: No-hunger.org/ida. Mom was always the first to feed people, so we think this would make her happy.
