Jean Mary Dault passed away peacefully on November 17th, 2023 in
Minneapolis, MN after a long and courageous battle with cancer while surrounded with family.
First on nine children, Jean was born on May 14, 1948 to Donald "Butch" and Harriet Dault. She attended the St. Thomas Catholic school during her elementary years, and in 1966 she received her diploma from Falls High School.
After high school Jean, along with her girlfriends, decided to travel to Paris, France. She always spoke of that event being the most memorable trip she ever got to take, always wishing she could have some day gotten to travel back. Jean made many memories with her girlfriends in her younger years, and made lifelong connections she carried with her through her life.
On September 17, 1977 Jean married Erik Fremstad and shortly after they were blessed with their three daughters: Danielle born first, followed by the twins Katie and Breanne. During those early years of motherhood Jean and the girls were able to spend a lot of special family time with her brother David and his family. She found great joy in watching hers and her bothers children create such close bonds with each other at such young ages.
Being the Matriarch, family was very important to Jean, and throughout her time she formed special relationships with each of her siblings. She took many trips out west to California with her three sisters, Patty, Susie, and Sarah having a time of their lives. The four of them, along with a few of the other females within the Dault clan and a few friends would be together at the potato sausage making parties that Jean often hosted, sporting competition with the Dault brothers for what group could make a better potato sausage-and I believe it was decided that the girls won. She never missed a family get together out at her brother Gordy's lake house. She was always up for being whipped around the lake on a tube being pulled behind a boat. She was very fond of her brother Doug for his frequent visits, whether to check in on her, to invite her over to dinner, or just to stop in to bring her some of his amazing homemade pickles and pickled beets. And she loved going walleye fishing with her brothers, Kevin and Robert, many times catching the biggest fish of the day. Those times fishing, and all the times spent with all of her family brought so much bliss into her heart. She is so loved and will be greatly missed by her entire family.
Jean's most significant importance she always put first were her daughters. Her efforts never fell short on showing them how much she loved them. She doted on each of her 10 grandchildren and was so delighted when she became a great-grandmother.
Jean was a talented gardener, much like her father. She loved four wheeling and pontooning the weekends away with her kids. She spent a lot of her down time painting and drawing as she had a knack for creating. At any gatherings with a DJ, you could likely find her shaking a leg and laughing out loud on the dance floor. And like her mother, she was always in the middle of a good book. She was truly a friend to be had, and carried much love and adoration for the kinships she carried through her life.
Jean is preceded in death by her father, Donald Joseph "Butch" Dault, her mother, Harriet Clair Gordon Dault,
sister Patty Dault, brother in-law Jimmy Hoffman, and niece Kacie Dault.
Jean is survived by her daughters Danielle Fremstad (Jayme), Katie Kirchhoff (John), and Breanne Fremstad, her grandchildren Cody, Bailey, Dakota, Logan, Cole, Ashley, Kyle, Liam, Shyanne and Alec, great grandchildren Tylson, Preslee, Kai, and a baby-girl on the way, her siblings Gordy (Kathy), Doug (Brenda), David (Sandy), Robert (MaryEllen), Kevin, Susie, and Sarah (Mitch), and even more nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Elks Lodge #1599 on December 8th at 3:00pm. Everyone is welcome to join the family to share our memories and stories of Jean and remember the loving way of life she lived.
