Shirley Jean Price DePalma Dault
June 16, 1929 - August 13, 2024
Loving Mother, grandmother, wife, sister and daughter. A beautiful strong loving woman who lead a full life.
Shirley was born in Allison Park, Penna. to John F. Price and Hazel Ruth Eakin of Lisbon, Penna. and moved from Allison Park, PA at the age of five to New Kensington, PA. Following graduation from New Kensington High School in 1948, she attended and graduated from the Jefferson Medical College Hospital School of Nursing (now Thomas Jefferson University) in 1952. She served as an officer 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base, Fl following the Korean War from 1954 - 1956. While in the Air Force, she met and married Scott M. DePalma and together they had three children-Amy Elizabeth, Julia Ann and Andrew Scott. They lived in Syracuse, N.Y, Akron, Ohio and Atlanta, GA and spent the next 16 years in Glen Ellyn, IL.
The children graduated from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn. Shirley spent ten years (1970-1980) as the surgery supervisor at the Glen Ellyn Clinic, followed by a number of years as an Occupational Health Nurse for several companies in the Chicago and suburban areas. One of her greatest enjoyments was her many years she spent as a registered nurse and being a member of the medical field.
After twenty years of marriage, she divorced and later met and married Frank A. Dault of Northbrook, IL. in May, 1982. In 1991, they moved to Sarasota, Florida and eventually to Bradenton, FL and finally settled in Ocala, Fl. While in Sarasota, Shirley owned and operated the Consignment Gallery of women's fine apparel. She took great pride in gardening, caring for her many flowers and tending to the care of the many variety of birds that called their yard home.
She and her husband loved vacationing in the Bahamas, and visiting with their combined families in Ill. and Wis. They were avid bowlers, shared their love of ballroom dancing, their home and friends and more important, a deep and abiding love for each other. Frank passed away in January, 2014 of complications from Alzheimers. Florida had been their home for 24 years. They would have been married for 32 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Donald Eaton Price, John Howard Price, his wife Esther McKinley Price and her sister, Sara Margaret Wiant (Harry). Shirley was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her loving children, Amy Elizabeth (the late Tony) Turturro of Breckenridge, Texas, Julia Ann Williamson (Irv) of Naperville, Illinois, her son Andrew Scott DePalma (Tina) of Marana, Arizona, her grandaughter Jaimie Clare Williamson of Middleton, Wisconsin; and her grandson, Justin Lofton of Darien, IL.
She leaves many friends in the Rolling Greens community in Ocala, FL with whom she shared many laughs and good times together playing cards and enjoying the many social activities available. She also left several very dear and loyal friends to include - Charlotte Everett of Wheaton, IL, Joan Dault Keeler of Deland, FL and Ginnette Peuckert of Sarasota, who stood by her side during a very dark period in her life. Her Ocala neighbor's and friends Mary, Shari, Charlotte, Dianne, Josie and Nila who were kind and checked on her often. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews, and their children. And, of course, her beautiful loyal loving black and white cat, Maggie.
Shirley was Presbyterian by faith. She died, at the age of 95 in Hospice care peacefully in Gods arms with her children by her side. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered.
Internment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetary in Glen Ellyn, IL.
Per the deceased's request, there will be no service. Her family will be there for the interment.
