Jean Isabelle (West) Draper, age 93, a native of DeKalb County, Illinois and a resident of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at UL Health in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on July 12, 1929 to the late Lloyd West and the late Anna Opal (Wells) West. Jean was a lifelong member of Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church, a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority and together with her husband was the owner of Draper Auto Sales. Jean will forever be remembered as an outgoing, wonderful lady that was always working hard to make others happy. She loved people and enjoyed going out with her friends and talking on the phone. Jean was all about her family. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed making her famous Eggo waffles and toaster strudel for them. She was a wonderful cook and made the best chili, breakfast and lasagna. Jean will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way.
She is survived by her two sons, Larry W. Draper and his wife Betty of Beverly Hills, Florida and Bart Draper of Scottsburg, Indiana. One brother, Jimmy West and his wife Hazel of Scottsburg, Indiana and sister in law, Carrie Lee West of Scottsburg, Indiana. Thirteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of over sixty years, the late Melvin L. Draper, one son, Rodney Draper, one brother, Lynn West, two sisters, Margaret Ann West and Marion West and one grandson, Rodney Cameron Draper.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM with funeral services to be held at 2:00 PM at Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at the Scottsburg Cemetery.
