Jean Ezzell, 92, passed into heaven on Friday, July 4th, 2025, at her home. A lifelong resident of Alamance County, Jean was married for 60 years to the late Billy Roy Ezzell Sr. She was the daughter of the late Ervin and Lillie Rippy Warren and was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Warren Brown, and her son-in-law, Calvin Cano. After earning a degree in culinary arts, she joyfully shared her talents by catering countless weddings and special events. She worked in many roles in food service over the years, including at Sherard's Pharmacy, where she was well-known for her delicious egg salad. She also lovingly prepared meals for Glen Hope Baptist Church and Burlington Christian Academy, always bringing care and flavor to every dish she served. Jean's signature recipes included her famous "hot cheese dip", peach ice cream, cheese straws, cakes, and more. For more than a decade, Jean volunteered at the local hospital, where she was known for her generosity and for sharing her baked goods with fellow volunteers and staff. On Sunday mornings, she could be found at First Wesleyan Church, where she faithfully served in numerous roles and was deeply cherished by the congregation. Above all, Jean treasured her family. Her proudest role was being Maw Maw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean is survived by her daughter, Debbie Anderson (Andy) of Clayton, North Carolina; and their daughters, Elizabeth (Josh) and Victoria (Daniel), along with their children, Jonah and Eli. She is also survived by her daughter, Becky Cano of
Burlington, North Carolina, and Becky's daughter, Jenny (Jacob), and their daughter, Sophie Jean. Jean's son, Billy Ezzell Jr. of Durham, North Carolina, survives her as well, along with his son, Billy Ezzell III (Aprel), and their son, Maddox. The Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the First Wesleyan Church Burlington. Mrs. Ezzell will lie in state for one hour before her service in the church. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall from 3:00 to 5:00pm. She will have a private family committal at Alamance Memorial Park. And at other times the family will be at her residence.
