Jean Goodroad Ethington Obituary

Jean was born on March 5, 1940, in Deadwood, South Dakota, to the late Lyle Cloll Goodroad and Bernice Ramsey Goodroad. She spent her life devoted to her family. A resident of Ouachita Parish, Jean was cherished as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and animal lover.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Ethington; her parents, Lyle and Bernice Goodroad; sisters, Shirley (Don) Smith, Louise Thomas, and Carol Baker; and brothers, Dale, Larry and Jerry Goodroad.
Jean is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Ronald Gene Ethington; her five children, Pam Goodroad, Carmey Ethington, Melody Olson, Cindy (Thomas) Hightower and Jamie (Lisa) Ethington. She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren, Danielle Rushing, Brandy (Marcus) Lenard, Nicholas (Maesi) Olson, Justin (Stevie) Ethington and Laura (Brian) Redel; her great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Emma, Avery, Emah Rose, Jakoda (Kristina) and Megan (Colton); and great-great-grandchildren, Payslie, Reese, Ellie and Matthew; sister, Cathie (Randy) Edwards; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Bailey and Donnie (Wanda) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Gail Forman and Judy (Ray) Osbon.
Jean's memory will also be cherished by her special friends, Lawana, Jo, and Judy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. A funeral service celebrating Jean's life will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Officiating will be Minister Irma McCall. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery on Frost Tower Road in West Monroe, under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, West Monroe.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Nicholas Olson, Justin Ethington, Marcus Lenard, Eddie Dulaney, Jason Blazier and Daniel Bellard.
Special music will be provided by Thomas and Freddie Hightower.
Jean's warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always. She touched many lives and leaves behind a rich legacy of love and kindness.
Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Jean.
