Jean Gail Hontz, age 78, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Jean was born on May 20, 1947, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to William Maurice Hontz and Jonena Matysik. She later made her home in Niceville, Florida, where she spent many years surrounded by family and community.

A proud veteran, Jean served her country in the United States Air Force, working in the computer field. She valued education and lifelong learning, earning a master's degree and exemplifying dedication, discipline, and quiet strength throughout her life.

Jean had a deep love for travel and adventure. She enjoyed exploring the world and cherished the experiences she gained visiting places such as Alaska, Iceland, the Bahamas, Egypt, and many others. Her curiosity and appreciation for different cultures reflected her adventurous spirit and lifelong enthusiasm for learning.

Jean is survived by her husband, James L. Stalls; her daughter, Angela Stalls, and son-in-law, Paul Orio-Catungal; her grandchildren, Kendra Stalls and Kerra McCuneGould, and grandson-in-law, Randall McCuneGould; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her two beloved dogs, LC and Buffy, who brought her constant companionship and comfort and whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and pet parent, and her family was always the center of her world.

Those who knew Jean will remember her intelligence, resilience, and unwavering sense of integrity. She lived with independence and purpose, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
