Jean Koury Obituary

Jean M. Koury

(nee Molinare) Reunited with her beloved husband Eddie on January 10, 2025 at the age of 86. Sister of David Molinare, Marie Skrzypchak, Michelle Molinare and the late Margaret Molinare. Also loved and survived by members of the Koury family, Salameh family, and many friends.

Jean worked at Lowell Elementary School in Milwaukee’s Public School system, for all her adult life. She enjoyed teaching young children as well as being an accomplished cook, delighting her family with new Mediterranean dishes when visiting. She enjoyed writing poetry, playing the piano, watching movie classics (1939-1965, the classic years) and playing a game of Scrabble with family during every visit. Always making sure the date and scores were recorded for the next match.

Her love for the movie classics passed down to her youngest sister after spending a summer before Jean’s wedding deep cleaning her soon to be wedded home during those long commercials while watching a movie with Bing Crosby, Humphrey Bogart or James Stewart.

Jean tended to ponder events and conversations and as a young girl her friends would later tell us they would see Jean silently chuckle in class after recesses as she finally understood the witticism shared on the playground.

Family was very special to Jean, and she embraced the Koury family as her own. Jean’s love for her husband, Eddie, was paramount as his love for Jean was for him. They were inseparable. They loved being surrounded by extended family and strangers who soon became friends.

Jean’s faith in Jesus Christ came at an early age and her relationship and love for the Lord continued throughout her life. She was in prayer daily and loved her church and church family.

She will be dearly missed by her sisters and brother. The frequent phone conversations and her love of telling long stories. Sometimes those stories putting the listener to sleep only to be woken by her name being spoken in consternation, “Are you there, Sister, are you still there!”

Jean always ended her conversations by saying, “Say hello to everyone I know!” Now as she is with all our beloved, parents, siblings, uncles, aunts and cousins, we ask her to say hello to everyone we know in heaven.
