With profound sadness, we announce that, on Oct. 13, 2025, Jean Marie Long passed away at home, surrounded by loving family members. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Donald (Dale) Long and son Steven D. Long. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Neal), son Matthew, grandchildren Krissy and Sean and great-grandchildren Taylor, Christian, and Ruen. Jean is also survived by her brother, Patrick (Jean), his son Michael (Lisa), in addition to many loved nieces and nephews.

Jean Marie Long (nee: Pruett) was born on July 18, 1929, in Long Beach, California. At the age of 18, she moved with her family from California's warm sun and surf to Buxton, Oregon, where she quickly learned that taking a dip in the waves of the Oregon beach is a far cry from those of Southern California! She met Donald Long at the local Buxton church, where she quickly fell in love with his winning smile and gentle countenance. They were married on Sept. 10, 1948 then lived in Buxton for a short while before moving to Hillsboro, where they eventually settled on a gentleman's farm in south Hillsboro to raise their three children.

Throughout her married life Jean loved to read, cook, embroider, ballroom and square dance, sell Avon products, spend time in the company of her many friends, and even dabble in horseback riding.

Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and dear friend…Jean will be sorely missed by all she touched.

Those we love don't go away,

They walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard,

But always near.

So loved, so missed,

So very dear!
