Jean C. MacDonald (Burke),78, of Newton, died after a long battle with COPD surrounded by her loving family at Newton Wellesley Hospital.
Born to the late Leo T. and Rita Burke (Mirningham) on October 04, 1946. In Newton, Massachusetts.
Growing up in Newton, she attended Underwood Elementary School, Bigelow Middle School, Newton High School and Newton Jr. College, later residing in Duxbury from 1994-2009 while working in the Banking industry for over 2 decades.
Jean went on to marry the late Devern O. MacDonald and together they raised his four children, Bruce, Debbie, Kenny and Keith from his previous marriage adding Heather, Beth and Megan to complete their happy union.
Known for her quick wit, strong will and warm personality Jean loved reading, drawing, knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles, baking and gardening. She was an avid fan of the Patriots and spending time at the beach and in the sun. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Compassionate and caring she would do anything for anyone with no expectations and she will be greatly missed.
Predeceased by her parents Leo T. and Rita Burke, her daughter Beth and her siblings, Lee and John.
Jean is lovingly survived by her children, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one son-in-law Christopher Zonghetti, and 3 daughters-in-laws Natalie, Joyce and AnneMarie MacDonald. In addition, her sisters Pam, Lisa, and Linda. Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to gather and remember the love and friendship she shared with us all during visiting hours on Friday, August 1st from 4 PM to 6 PM in The Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco and Sons Memorial Chapels, located 773 Moody Street, Waltham followed by a celebration of Jean's life beginning at 6PM. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Jean and her family but are unable to attend are welcome to sign the family's guestbook at www.BrascoFuneralhome.com
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.
