Jean Anne Mattson, aged 86, passed away peacefullly in her home on August 21, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1939 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Earl and Pauline Burtis. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Joseph Mattson and her daughter, Karen Camara, who is survived by her husband, Ken Camara. Jean is survived by her daughter Julia Marshall, her stepdaughter Patricia Davies-Nell and Patricia's husband, John Nell and her stepson, Charles Mattson. Jean and Joe were also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their faithful labrador, Rose.
Jeannie loved to travel and together with Joe, they travelled to many countries around the world and much of the US with their airstream in tow- making friends wherever they went. She was a fantastic cook and always up for a good party. She often hosted family and friends, serving up fabulous meals. Jeannie was also an avid bargain hunter, scouring sales and thrift stores. She always managed to find some treasure or pair of shoes that she just couldn't pass up- often sharing her special finds with others whether they wanted them or not. Also, very proud of her Irish heritage, Jeannie would share her family history with anyone willing, or unwilling, to listen.
Known for her tenacity, antics and laughter, her outgoing personality and her love for her family and friends, Jeannie will be greatly missed. It will always be sippy time somewhere.
