Jean Louise Moir

Jean Louise Moir, age 79, of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026. She was born on July 16, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, to Richard and Cecilia Buysse.

Jean was the second youngest of seven children and grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, with three brothers and three sisters.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Michael Moir; her first husband, Kenneth Spencer, who was killed while serving in the Vietnam War; her beloved dogs, Sammy, Snickers, and Buddy; her brothers, Richard Buysse (Mary) and Timothy Buysse; and her sister, Mary Ellen (Janies).

She is survived by her son, Keith Spencer; her siblings, James Buysse (Barbara), Catherine Buttermore, and Celeste Hayes (Michael); as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Jean had a lifelong passion for staying active and engaged in the world around her. She loved to travel, play tennis, and scuba dive, and she was a generous supporter of many charitable causes. Her faith was central to her life, and she was deeply devoted to her Catholic Church community in Gaylord. Jean will be remembered for her energy and the love she shared with family, friends, and all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Jean on Monday, May 18, 2026, at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord. Jean's family will receive friends and guests beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m.
