Services for Jean E. Sayers, 97, of Irmo, SC, will be private. Woodridge Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Jean Sayers passed away peacefully at home with family on March 25, 2024. Born in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late George W. Huber and Abbie B. Wilson Huber. She was an employee of Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio, and attended business school to become a Secretary for the Ohio Company of Columbus, Ohio.
Jean is survived by her son, Cary Sayers (Carolyn) of Washington Court House, Ohio; daughter, Linda Antill (Jim) of Irmo, SC; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Jean is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Anita Sayers, and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Alfred "Al" M. Sayers, Jr.; son, Gerald Sayers; sisters, Mary Furbay and Dorothy Austin.
The family would like to thank the staff of Prisma Hospice for their attentive loving support and care. Three of Jean's grandchildren, Kelly Gouge, James Antill and Eric Benson provided much-needed respite support to her daughter and son-in-law, with whom she lived for several years.
As there will be no public services, the family requests no flowers, please. Memorials may be made to Prisma Health Hospice, 1400 Pickens Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
