Jean Stultz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simons Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 2, 2023.
Peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023, Jean Elizabeth Stultz, age 89, of Ross Twp. Beloved daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Taylor) Stultz; sister of Albert Stultz, Ann Stultz (Robert) Clay, and the late Robert Stultz andJames Stultz; also survived by many nieces & nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Northmont United Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Hwy, Pgh, PA 15237. Jean was called to serve others in many capacities. Her mission service began as a young woman as she was sent by special appointment from the United Presbyterian Church to the American Mission Hospital in Tanta, Egypt, in 1955 just after graduating from Westminster College. After four years of service there, she returned and briefly served the Wallace Memorial Church, but her heart was in Egypt. She was sent for another three-year term to serve at the Schutz American School in Alexandria, Egypt. After a short stint working for Passavant Hospital, Jean went to work at the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh. For 30 years she served in various capacities: as program director for teens in the South Hills, as center director in Wilkinsburg, and as program manager in the North Center. Jean's work centered on leadership for women and girls, advocating for their needs. She resigned from this work to initiate the North Hills Affordable Housing in 1995 and worked as secretary for Benedictine Place, housing for single mothers and children. Additionally, Jean has served on the following Boards: North Hills Community Outreach, North Hills Youth Ministry (renamed ANCHORPOINT), North Hills Affordable Housing, and Benedictine Place (renamed HEARTH), Action-Housing Inc., Sister's Place Inc., Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, Asian Women's Institute, Pittsburgh Cluster, Zonta International, New Wilmington Mission Conference, and the Seminary World Mission Initiative. She held many positions at Northmont United Presbyterian Church, including serving a term as Clerk of Session, and worked on Peacemaking and Mission Committees. She was also a Stephen Minister and served actively with Presbyterian Women both at Northmont Church and Pittsburgh Presbytery. Jean's dedication to serving others has been a hallmark of her life. She is beloved by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Northmont United Presbyterian Church.

Jean was a sorority sister at Westminster College, a dear and true friend. My sincere condolences to all who had the honor of spending time with her and sharing her kindness and wonderful sense of humor.

Our beloved Jean who kept the Schutz alumni family together for 60 plus years, has gone to her heavenly home, undoubtedly helping Jesus in his administrative duties! After a short rest, she will be meeting and welcoming each of us with the same gracious hospitality shown below, but there we will never have to say "Masalama, Allah ya salamic."

Jean was a very special person and I had the honor of working with her in different capacities. Always willing and with a smile. I will miss her as I am sure many Northmont members will. Blessings to the family at this difficult time.

TO OUR VERY DEAR JEAN:
TO SAY WE WILL MISS YOU IS NOT AN OPTION. THE IMPACT OF YOUR LIFE, AND KNOWING YOU IS A "ONCE IN A LIFE TIME" OF WONDERFUL SHARING AND SERVING GOD. YOU HAVE BEEN THE MAJOR SOURCE OF SERVICE WHERE EVER YOU WERE PLACED. NO ONE CAN DO WHAT YOU DID BECAUSE YOUR SPIRIT IS AND WAS THE DRIVING POWER BEHIND ALL YOUR EFFORTS AND ACTIVITIES.

PEARL AND SAFWAT NOT ONLY MISS YOU BUT ALSO CHERISH THE TIME WE HAVE KNOWN YOU BOTH IN EGYPT'S TANTA HOSPITAL, SHUTZ SCHOOL OR HERE IN USA.
YOU WERE AND WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS THE PRESENT AND CURRENT AGE BIBLICAL TABITHA OF YOUR COMMUNITIES WHERE YOU CANNOT BE REPLACED.
OUR SORROW IS ONLY SURPASSED BY OUR BELIEF AND KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR CURRENT PLACE NOW.
SO WELCOME TO NEW HOME WHERE WE ALL LOOK FORWARD TO JOIN SOME DAY.
IN CHRIST'S LOVE ,
PEARL AND SAFWAT HABASHI

For over 50 years Jean has been a dear friend. She is a master at keeping in touch across distances, and also in connecting others who are scattered around the world.
Jean's love for God and dependence on him shone though her life as she passed on this love to others. What a blessing to know Jean! We will miss her.
Our deepest condolences to her family and friends. May you be comforted by our wonderful hope in Christ and the joy Jean is enjoying in his presence.
With love and thankfulness,
Dave and Fran Jordan
