Jean Elenor (Williams) Thomas was born in Paterson, NJ to Louis Williams and Marjorie Ransome on December 23, 1937. She was raised in Passaic, NJ by her dad and paternal grandmother Susan Ellen Williams whom she affectionately called Big Mama.
She attended the Passaic School system, graduating from Passaic High School.
She was employed in various jobs during her work career. These include Chestnut Hill Nursing Home, Revlon, Beecham, Inc., Popular Club Plan and Ethan Allen (production) to name a few.
She was united in holy matrimony to Fynn Thomas, Jr. in 1959 at the St. Paul Baptist Church Passaic Rev. Lucius Walker Pastor. From this union four children were born, Derek Keith Thomas, Charmaine Renee Thomas-Johnson (Todd), Carla Kim Thomas-Lewis (Elisha) and Corey Eric Thomas (Davina).
She resided in Passaic until 1989. She then relocated to Paterson, NJ, where she resided for 16yrs. After retiring from Ethan Allen, she moved to Dover, DE and worked at Mom's House Daycare Center as a childcare provider for infants and children. Prior to relocating to Delaware, she was a member of the Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church Passaic. She remained in Delaware until her passing.
We will remember our beloved mother as a strong-willed woman who was full of wisdom and understanding. She surpassed any problem she encountered. She was preceded in death by her son, Derek K. Thomas and her daughter, Carla Kim Thomas-Lewis.
Jean departed this life Monday, June 3, 2024.
She leaves to cherish beautiful memories her husband, Fynn Thomas, Jr.; daughter, Charmaine R. Johnson; son, Corey Thomas; four grandchildren, Tia R. Johnson, Todd N. Johnson, Tyler C. Thomas and Kyra Wong; son-in-law Todd Johnson; daughter-in-law, Davina Thomas; her siblings, Tina Thomas, Donald Thomas Sr., Melvin Williams and Debbie Thomas; sister-in-law, Dorothy Thomas; cousins, Mary Ellen Washington and Edward Mix; her dear friend, Beverly McMurray.
