Jean Marie Till, 80, of Superior died Monday, April 11, 2022 at Red Cedar Canyon Memory Care in Hudson, WI.
Jean was born in Ironwood, Michigan to John Pavlovich and Margaret Pavlovich (Leskoviansky) on March 13, 1942. She completed her elementary, middle and high school education in Ironwood. Jean went on to attain her Bachelors in English from the College of St Scholastica; her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota-Duluth; and her Doctorate of Education from the University of Minnesota.
Jean taught English at South Division High in Milwaukee where she met the love of her life Joe Till (III), who was attending Marquette University for a Law Degree. Joe and Jean were married August 1966 and moved to Superior, WI in 1967. Jean went on to work for Duluth Regional Care, Northland Red Cross, College of St. Scholastica, University of Minnesota Duluth, School District of Superior, and Lake Superior College.
Jean was an active member and volunteer with many different organizations which included the Red Cross (Northland Chapter President, President of State Council of Red Cross for the State of MN, member of the Regional Board, participated in a volunteer trip to Peru to support a local hospital), the Superior Public Library (Board of Trustees, President of Board of Trustees, helped establish SPL, which was a foundation to support the library), Friends of the Library member, Lucius Woods Musical Festival President, Rotary member, Girl Scouts Board member, P.E.0. Sisterhood member.
Jean was an incredible woman who enjoyed literature, art, classical music, photography, reading, baking, cooking, entertaining and summers at the cabin sitting on the chaise lounge chairs on the deck. Jean also greatly enjoyed travel. Jean and Joe traveled widely within the Unites States and also internationally. Kicking off their international travel was their trip to Bermuda for their honeymoon. Jean and Joe continued their travel adventures throughout their marriage and traveled to Grand Cayman, Holland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, England, Scotland, France, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Luxemburg, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Peru, Guatemala, Spain, Slovenia, Iceland, Bosnia, Portugal, and Vatican City.
Jean lived her life with a smile, grace, wit and humbleness that could touch anyone. She was a beloved mom to Joe and Bradley and a beloved grandma to Olivia and Joey. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her especially her devoted travel mate and husband Joe, whose dedication and love were the rock that held Jean up these last few years.
Jean is survived by her husband Joseph Till of Superior, WI; her two sons Bradley (Rachel) Till of Woodland, CA; and Joseph IV (Nicki) Till of Hudson, WI; and two grandchildren Olivia and Joey Till of Hudson, WI. She is also survived by her sister Julie (Craig) Nippet of Denver, CO. Jean is preceeded in death by her mother Margaret Pavlovich(6/9/1917-3/27/2009) and father John Pavlovich(6/15/1913-1/24/1974).
Visitation will be held Monday, April 18, 2022, from 5-7pm at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St in Superior. Visitation will resume Tuesday April 19, 10am until the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of Christ the King, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior. Public luncheon following service at Kress Hall.
Pallbearers are Joseph Till (IV), Bradley Till, Dan Blank, Jim Brace, Ted Salzer, and Brian Soland.
