Pittsford: Jeane Begemann passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at the age of 86.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willem Begemann; her parents, Tom and Soemiatie Kooijmans; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving children, Spencer (Kathleen) Begemann and Michael (Michele) Begemann; and her cherished grandchildren in the United States: Anthony, Grace, Luke, and Owen Begemann. She is also survived by her brothers, Ferry Kooijmans, Hart Kooymans, and Wayne Callahan; as well as nieces, nephews, and numerous dear friends. Additionally, Jeane is survived by her stepdaughters, Christa and Jolanda, in The Netherlands, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins there.
Jeane was born in Indonesia and educated in The Netherlands. She emigrated to Rochester in 1961, shortly after the death of her father, to join her brother Ferry. It was Ferry who introduced her to her beloved husband, Willem. Soon after, love blossomed, and they were married in the summer of 1962. Jeane worked as an apartment rental agent for several decades and also contributed her talents at her brother Hart's beauty salon.
Jeane was an enthusiast of rock music, especially Elvis Presley, as well as the Olympics, ice hockey, and World Cup soccer, particularly during the playing days of Pelé. She enjoyed photographs of her family, proudly displaying them throughout her residence. Willem and Jeane also loved taking cruise vacations to the Caribbean islands.
Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, January 25th, at 11:00 AM in the All Seasons Chapel of White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY.
