Vietta Begemann, 93, of Odessa, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home in Concordia, Missouri surrounded by family.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, 100 W. Hwy OO, Odessa, Missouri, 64076. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., at the church. Interment will be in the Odessa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Lafayette County Enterprises (Sheltered Workshop) or First Baptist Church in Odessa. Vietta was born on October 12, 1929, in Dresden, MO to Henry T. and Flossie (Hoch) Lampman. She graduated in 1947 from Leeton High School in Leeton, MO. Vietta went to Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO and received her degree in teaching. She taught for 3 years at Oakland Country School and Centerview Country School for two years. Vietta also worked at the Odessa Shoe Factory. On May 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Charles August Begemann in Odessa. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1998. Vietta and Charles farmed and she was very active in helping care for the home, family and farm. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa. Vietta spent many hours volunteering at the church, and visiting with folks in the nursing home and who were shut in. Vietta enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include five children, Janice Snyder and husband Fred of Odessa, MO, Steven Begemann and wife Lynna of Independence, MO, Susan Hayden and husband Jim of Lee’s Summit, MO, Connie Begemann of Higginsville, MO, and Michael Begemann and wife Stacy of Odessa, MO; six grandchildren, Keary Zaeske and husband Scott, Ryan Snyder and wife Misti, Eric Begemann and wife Mehak, Alex Begemann and wife Cheyanna, Jennifer Yob and husband Dave, and Trent Begemann; eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Detherage and husband John and Katherine Anders both of Sedalia, MO; one brother, Everett Lampman and wife Marilyn of Maysville, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Vietta was preceded in death by five sisters, Wanda, Mary, Hattie, Dora, and Norma; three brothers, Charles, J.R., and Stanley; and two brothers in infancy.
