Jeanette J. Avey, 91, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 4:30 AM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion, IN. She was born on Friday, August 18, 1933, in Rensselaer, IN. Jean married Paul E. Avey on Sunday, February 22, 1953 ; he preceded her in death on June 14. 1971. Jean was a graduate of Rensselaer High School. She had worked as a clerk for Sears and a trucking company. Jean also worked at the dime store in Montpelier and retired from Gripco where she was janitor. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, doing crafts. and loved her flowers. Jean was a simple woman that never turned anyone away in need, she loved her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Jean will be forever missed by her Daughter - Mary Ann Avey, Marion, IN, Daughter - Paula J. Sills, Montpelier, IN, Son - William "Bill" (Steph) Avey, New Haven, IN, Grandson - Steven Sills, Montpelier, IN, Granddaughters - Lynda Dodds and Kendra Sargent, both of Indianapolis, IN, Great Grandchildren - Lydia Dodds, Isiah Sargent, and Jase Avey, all of Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by her Husband - Paul E. Avey, Father - Harry Topp, Mother - Lillie A. (Leis) Avey, Sister - Phyllis Miller, Brother - Melvin Topp, and Sister - Marjean Alfter.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home located at 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier, IN. on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
A service to celebrate Jean's life will follow at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2025 with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier.
