LINCOLNTON: Jeanette Chapman Mauney, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Lincolnton on August 27, 2025. Born on October 10, 1938, in Cleveland County, Jeanette lived a full and vibrant 86 years.
Throughout her life, Jeanette was known for her cheerful demeanor and warm heart. She spread joy wherever she went, possessing an innate ability to never meet a stranger, always ready with a kind word or a story to share. Her love for NASCAR and country music added a rhythmic beat to her days, while her green thumb brought beauty and life through the flowers she lovingly planted.
Traveling on bus tours with her late husband, James Mauney, was among her cherished memories, and their shared love for square dancing filled many evenings with laughter and grace. An avid follower of her faith, Jeanette read her Bible often, finding solace and strength in her prayers and conversations with the Lord.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Orlando and Mary Chapman, her devoted husband, James Mauney, and her brother, Danny Chapman. She leaves behind her loving son, Keith Borders, and his wife Janis, her dear sister, Dean Thompson, her brother Albert Chapman, and her treasured grandson, James Borders. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.
The family will be holding a graveside service to honor Jeanette's life at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Sunset Cemetery, with Kathy Houser officiating. In this time of remembrance, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and devotion. Jeanette's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
