Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park NorthJeanne Claire Bain, 95, of Speedway, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1930, in Blue Island, Illinois, to Henry C. Mindeman and Clara A. Mindeman. They moved to St. Bernice, Indiana, in 1932, where Jeanne graduated from St. Bernice High School in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart, George M. Bain, Jr., in 1949. Jeanne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, George M. Bain, Jr., their infant son, Larry Gene Bain, and both of her parents.
Jeanne was a member of Speedway United Methodist Church, Englewood Chapter #483 Order of the Eastern Star, P.E.O. Chapter CN, and Friendship Circle of the Scottish Rite.
She retired from General Electric Supply Company after 27 years, and worked for Markey’s Audio Visual several years afterwards. She also volunteered at Ronald McDonald House for 10 years.
She spent many wonderful hours with her family celebrating birthdays, holidays, and many other special occasions. Family time also included many summer days on Lake Freeman in Indiana and Lake Cumberland in Kentucky.
Jeanne is survived by her son, Lindsey (Daniel) Bain of Speedway, Indiana, daughter, Candice (Larry) Stahly of Ligonier, Indiana, granddaughter, Karen (Stefan) Hershberger of Highland Park, Illinois, great-grandson, Owen Hershberger of Highland Park, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10th, starting at 10 am at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park North on Kessler Blvd., with the funeral service following at 12 noon.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Speedway United Methodist Church.
