Jeanne Evelyn Brown Brickell
Jeanne Evelyn Brown Brickell, age 97, of Erie, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at Nightingale Rehab and Nursing Home, after a short illness. She was born in Rouseville, PA on December 18, 1927, daughter of the late Gardner Henderson Brown and Ruth Ryan. Prior to her illness, Jeanne lived at Harborcreek Senior Apartments in Harborcreek, PA.
Jeanne was a lifelong resident of the Lawrence Park area and was a member of Lawrence Park United Methodist Church. She was a licensed practical nurse and began her career at Twinbrook Nursing Home. Jeanne then worked for over 25 years at Hamot Hospital. She was a member of the IV team at the time of her retirement.
Jeanne enjoyed many activities such as traveling, reading, playing cards, and being involved with her church. She loved country music, socializing with friends and family, and experiencing new adventures - from swimming with stingrays in the Caribbean, to traveling to Ireland, to watching the sun rise in Hawaii.
Jeanne is survived by a daughter, Donna Schoenfeld of Orangevale, CA; two sons, Jim (Maureen) of Southaven, MS and Richard (Cathy) of Erie; four grandchildren, Matthew Brickell of Olive Branch, MS, David (Trudy) Schoenfeld of Grass Valley, CA, Michael (Angela) Schoenfeld of Fair Oaks, CA and Emily (Chris Brown) of Olive Branch, MS; and five great-grandchildren, Addie and Ryan Brown and Madeline, Mikey and Colin Schoenfeld. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Carol Brickell of Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Brown; her sister, Bette Ober; her husband of 35 years, Donald Brickell; and her son-in-law, Thomas Schoenfeld.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday, January 24th, from 11 am until the time of the Funeral Service there at 1 pm, conducted by Rev. Karen Trask of Lawrence Park United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

Jeanne was my mentor at Hamot in 1979 when I was a student in the medical lab technician program. She was very patient with me and always made me smile. She had a way of injecting humor into the drudgery of drawing blood. She'd often call me Donna instead of Debbie, and I never bothered correcting her. I'm sorry to see she has passed on, but happy to see she lived a long life!
