Jeanne Marie Marrs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, in South Lyon, Michigan. She was 91 years old.
Born on July 2, 1934, in Hammond, Indiana, Jeanne was one of seven children. A lifelong Catholic, she attended St. Joseph School and Catholic Central, now Bishop Noll Institute. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hammond, St. James the Less Catholic Church in Highland and St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Lyon, Michigan.
On June 16, 1962, Jeanne married Roy Richard "Dick" Marrs, at St. Joseph's Church. Together they built a beautiful life and family, sharing 18 years of marriage until Dick's passing on December 9, 1980. Throughout her life Jeanne remained a steady, loving presence for her 3 children, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grand children, as well as many nieces, nephews, siblings and lifelong friends.
Jeanne is survived by her daughters: Janet Marie (Marrs) Caldwell and spouse William Caldwell; Elizabeth Ann (Marrs) Germick and spouse Robert Germick; and Katherine Mary (Marrs) Wolfe and spouse Eric Wolfe. She is also survived by her youngest sister Pamela (Reinert) Danko and sister-in-law June (Riggs) Reinert. Preceding her in death were five siblings and their spouses: Mary Ann (Reinert) Barber and William Barber; Patricia (Reinert) Homrich and Eugene Homrich; Dorothy (Reinert) Tobin and Jack Tobin: Peter Reinert; Thomas Reinert, husband of June (Riggs) Reinert; and Dennis Danko, husband of Pamela (Reinert) Danko.
Known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith, Jeanne touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her strength, her generous heart, and the love she so freely gave to her family and friends. She now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her husband Dick and those who have gone before her.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 am followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. Joseph's Church in Hammond, Indiana. Jeanne will be laid to rest beside her husband Dick in Mount Mercy Cemetery in Gary, Indiana.
Jeanne's life was a testament to faith, family, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
