Jeanne (Lola Jean) Mummert entered heaven on June 16, 2025 at the age of 98. Jeanne was born on October 18, 1926 to Lena Nordling and Arthur Rettmer in Tracy, Minnesota.

Jeanne is survived by her eldest daughter Sherry Jean Leatha (Norm). She is preceded in death by her husband Dean Noll Mummert, their youngest daughter Nancy Trutner Mummert, her sister Elaine Rettmer Barry, and her brother Conrad Arthur Rettmer.

Jeanne leaves behind three grandchildren Kirstan Leatha Tobin (Toby), Brandon Todd Leatha (Christina), and Robb Noll Mummert. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren Kendall Scott Tobin, Riley Graham Tobin, Alexander Daileda Leatha, Benjamin Daileda Leatha, Shanell Rose Leatha, Lola Grace Leatha, and Liliane Christina Leatha.

Growing up in Minnesota, Jeanne played field hockey and the base fiddle. She graduated early from Tracy High School and attended Mankato State Teachers College where she earned a degree in early education. Jeanne married Dean on July 28, 1946 and they settled in Eden Prairie, MN where she taught second grade. They soon moved to the Peninsula of Medicine Lake where they raised their family. Jeanne served as the editor of the Medicine Laker in their new village. She also served as the Girl Scout leader for both the girls, PTA president, room mother and the Mayors wife. The village fire truck was housed in their garage until the Village Hall was built.

After a family trip to Seattle for the 1962 World's Fair, the Mummert family moved to Everett, Washington in 1964. Jeanne eventually settled in Kirkland on Lake Washington where she resided until her death. She taught special education in the Lake Washington School District until she was 75 years old. She spent the last year and a half of her life in the loving care of Madison House.

Active in her church Holy Spirit Lutheran, Jeanne taught both Confirmation and Sunday School as well as attending a weekly quilting group. One of her greatest passions in life was knitting. Jeanne enjoyed "thrifting", shopping for her many collections and picking up supplies for her students. A few of her many collections included camels, angels, music boxes, old wooden utensils, trivets, and shoes.

Jeanne will be tremendously missed by many. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held Saturday, July 12 @ 1:00 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Kirkland WA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her church quilting group in Jeanne Mummert's memory.

To honor Jeanne and her crafting, please take a piece of her knitting and remember her fondly when you use it.
