Jeannette Marie Ivaska

Jeannette Marie Ivaska, lovingly known as Jean, passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and countless happy memories. Born on June 7, 1930, in Chicago, Jeannette was the epitome of joy and the ultimate mom, always surrounded by the warmth of family and friends.
Jeannette was raised in Chicago and was the beloved daughter of Martin and Margaret. She had a deep passion for flowers and gardening, transforming her home into a vibrant, blooming paradise. Jean also had a great passion for baking. Her love for animals was unmatched, with her Aunts horse Fritz, and her dog, Guido, holding special places in her heart. And her love for her many cats over the years.
Jeannette was predeceased by her daughter Laura, her husband George Ivaska in 1995, and her parents, Martin and Margaret. Her spirit and legacy continue to thrive through her family: her son Kenneth (Terrie) Ivaska; her grandchildren Daniel (Lexi), Samantha, and Robert; and her son Gregory (Mary) Ivaska.
Jeannette's life was a testament to the power of laughter and the importance of cherishing every moment. Her joyful spirit and loving nature will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her. In honor of Jeannette, we encourage everyone to plant a flower, pet an animal, bake a cake and share a hearty laugh with friends and family. Here's to Jeannette, who made the world a happier place.
A celebration of Jeannette's life will be held at River Woods Funeral Chapel on Thursday July 18th from 3 until 7 pm with a service at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local animal shelter or plant a garden in her memory. Let's keep her spirit alive by spreading joy and laughter, just as she always did.
