Jeannette Blanche (Kelly) Blaney, 68 of Plymouth, MA, lovingly known as "Nellie" or "Nellie Kelly," passed away surrounded by family on September 13, 2025.

Born on April 7, 1957, in Boston, Massachusetts, Nellie lived a life marked by resilience, humor, and an enduring love for those closest to her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Blaney, with whom she shared many years of marriage and companionship. Nellie's journey was not always easy, and life's struggles sometimes kept her at a distance, but her love for her children, Francis and Eryn, never wavered. She carried them in her heart every single day.

Nellie will be dearly missed by her siblings, George Larry Dern and his wife Diana (Williams) and Mary-Jane (Dern) Murphy. Her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will remember her for her warmth, quick wit, and her gift for making everyone feel welcome.

She is reunited in eternal rest with her husband Kenny; her parents, Francis Kelly and Evelyn Jessie (MacDonald); her baby brother Francis Thomas Kelly; her sister, Jessie Marie (Dern) Webster, along with her husband, John Markley Webster and her brother, William Louis Dern.

Nellie's life was enriched by family gatherings, her love of music, her devotion to animals, and her proud Irish spirit. She cherished her roots and carried her family's stories proudly throughout her life.

If you asked Nellie who her favorite child was, she'd probably laugh that big, unforgettable laugh of hers and refuse to answer-but Eryn would quickly jump in to claim the title. Francis, on the other hand, shared a steady, lifelong closeness with his mom. The truth is, Nellie's heart had more than enough room for both, and her children were always her greatest pride. Known for her quick wit, lively spirit, and love of a good time, Nellie's laughter filled every room she entered and will echo in the memories of all who loved her.

A service to honor Nellie's life will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., when she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Kenny at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In accordance with her wishes, some of her ashes will also be scattered with other loved ones.

Following the services, family and friends are invited to continue the celebration of Nellie's life at Monte Christo's, 745 State road, Plymouth, MA 02360, for a bereavement meal.

In tribute to Nellie's favorite color, the family asks those attending to wear blue in her honor. In lieu of other offerings, peonies-Nellie's favorite flower-may also be shared in her memory.

Nellie's fierce independence, unforgettable laughter, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Though gone from our sight, she will never be forgotten.
