Jeannette A. Smithback, age 87, passed away on November 6, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born on August 24, 1938 in Woodburn, Orgeon the daughter of Joseph and Violet (Bratvold) LaBansky. She married Raymond Smithback on May 18, 1963 in Rockford, Illinois.
Jan was a generous, loving and authentic woman who shined so bright. She was known for and will be remembered for her beautiful smile, and contagious laugh. Jan lit up every room she entered and made friends wherever she went. Jan always went above and beyond to make sure all of her family felt loved and appreciated.
She is survived by her children Terry (Lesa) LaBansky and Richard (Lynda) Smithback; grandchildren Kelly LaBansky and Christine “Chrissy” Huggett (LaBansky); great grandchildren, Isaiah, Robin, and Mahzio. She is also survived by her sister Jean Keegan, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband; and son Michael Smithback; two brothers Joe and Curt LaBansky.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday November 17, 2025 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect St., Stoughton. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Services. Jeannette will be laid to rest at Lutheran South Cemetery.
