"Sr. Mary Peter Chanel"
Of Waltham, peacefully entered eternal life in the loving arms of her God on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham at the age of 91.
Sr. Jeannette Bernier was born on December 17, 1932, in Topsham, Maine; beloved daughter of the late Parents: Calixte J. Bernier and Celenda (Michaud) Bernier. Sister was of a family of three boys and four girls. Her brother Roland became a Marist lay brother and her sister Rolande became a Religious Sister of the Holy Family.
Sr. Jeannette made her Profession as a Marist Missionary Sister on August 15, 1953, in Bedford, MA. She was missioned to Hawaii in 1954 to work at the Diocesan Seminary of St. Stephen in the Kitchen department. between 1965-1970
She gave community service Stateside and did her studies in Switzerland in 1970 and then was missioned to Senegal, Africa in 1973. Sister Jeannette came home for a Family Visit in 1979 and remained in the States giving community service for many years. Sister studied Holistic Reflexology and gave of her talents to many of our Sisters over the years. Sister Jeannette spent many years responsible of our food and kitchen department in Waltham.
Sister Jeannette is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families as well as many friends and her loving & devoted Community of Marist Missionary Sisters. They will all miss her dearly.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of the Resurrection in celebration of Sister Jeannette's Life at the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence, 62 Newton St, Waltham on Wednesday morning July 10th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Marist Missionary Sisters Lot at Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Funeral Mass in the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence from 9:00 am -10:30 am. We will pray the Rosary at 9:30am followed by words of remembrance and the
Mass of the Resurrection.
