Jeannie Lou Hembree, age 83, of Rogersville, passed away March 26.

Jeannie was born Dec. 4,1942, to Arthur Gilliam Sr. and Sochia Gilliam. She graduated from Rogersville High School.

She retired from Kingsport Press after many years of service. After retirement, she changed career paths and worked for local daycare centers.

Jeannie was a member of Howe's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, East Rogersville Baptist Church and Living Faith Sunday School Class. She gave her time in volunteer work with church daycare and Shepherd's Corner.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur Gilliam Sr. and Sochia Gilliam; and siblings: Arthur Gilliam Jr., Clarence Gilliam, Virgie Stubblefield, and Loretta Wallace.

She is survived by her daughters: Sherry Stubblefield and her husband, Chris, and LeAnn Cash and her husband, Denver; grandchildren: Brooke Smith and her husband, Dustin, and Cheyenne Cash; great-grandchildren: Brayden Whitehair, Kyndall Smith, and Elijah Smith; a sister: Brenda Banks; and several nieces and nephews.

The family of Jeannie wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Gentiva Hospice and the caregivers of LifeCare of Ridgeview Terrace in Rutledge.

Visitation hours will be from 2-4 p.m. March 29 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor John Butler officiating. Music will be provided by Brad Price of Rogersville. Graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brayden Whitehair, Cheyenne Cash, Dustin Smith, Chris Stubblefield, Denver Cash, and Loren Hembree.

Honorary pallbearer will be Elijah Smith.
