Jeannie Hutchinson Piper

Jeannie Hutchinson Piper (née Wilson), 96, of Chadds Ford PA, died Wednesday August 27, 2025 in her home with her daughter Judith by her side. She was born July 25, 1929 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Jeannie grew up in Northern Ireland where she met the love of her life, Edward A Piper. They married September 3, 1952 and soon after immigrated to Canada then the United States. They lived in Montreal Canada, Stratford CT, and Pasadena CA, before settling in Chadds Ford Knoll in 1962. They were married for 65 years when Edward died in their home on December 18, 2017.

Jeannie will be deeply missed by her children: Denise Piper of West Chester PA; Alan (Lovina) Piper of Mechanicsburg PA; Carolyn (Ron) Rimmel of Streetsboro OH; Judith (Dean) Gilbert of Myrtle Beach SC. She will also be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Adrian Piper, Liese Piper, and Emma Piper; Ashley Rimmel, Melissa (Andrew) Romain, and Colleen Rimmel; Kyle (Bri) Gilbert, Ryan (Tina) Gilbert, Allison Gilbert, and Eric Gilbert; and her great-grandson Nathan Edward Romain.

Jeannie loved being a homemaker and raising her four children. Later in life she loved her role as "Nana" to her ten grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. She was thrilled to become a great-grandmother last year. Throughout her life, Jeannie enjoyed vacationing in Bermuda with Edward, visiting family in England and Northern Ireland, researching family genealogy back to the 1700's, and being at the South Carolina beaches with family. Visits from family and friends brought much happiness to Jeannie, especially in the last six months of her life when she could no longer travel.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeannie's memory to your favorite organization. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Willow Tree Hospice--especially Megan and Emma.
