Jeannine Duncan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, in Fairview, Texas. She was 91 years old.
Jeannine was born on April 14, 1933, in La Rochelle, France, to Jean Sarlandie and Marthe Charpantier. As a young woman, Jeannine's life was shaped by the challenges and resilience of post-World War II Europe. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Loney Duncan, a U.S. serviceman. Jeannine worked as a translator and secretary for the U.S. military, where she and Loney forged a lasting bond. They married on February 17, 1957, in a ceremony that marked the beginning of a 65-year union filled with love, faith, and devotion.
The couple settled in Kansas before eventually moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they raised their family. Jeannine was a devoted mother, nurturing her children with unwavering love and care. She dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community, becoming deeply involved in the Women's Ministry at her church, where she served for over 20 years.
Jeannine's love for service extended beyond her home. Over the years, she participated in eight mission trips to Haiti, sharing her time and resources with those in need. She was a tireless worker, always willing to lend a helping hand, and found great joy in caring for others.
An avid gardener, Jeannine found peace and fulfillment in cultivating vegetables in her garden. Her green thumb was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, as she cared for her plants with the same love and attention she gave to her family.
Throughout her life, Jeannine's faith remained her guiding light. She believed deeply in the love of Christ and was a strong witness to His grace. Her faith and commitment to her church family were cornerstones of her life, and she is now resting in the arms of her Savior, awaiting His return.
Jeannine is survived by her daughter Cosette Vincent and husband, Dwight of Fairview, Texas; daughter, Liz Simons and husband, Sam of Keene, Texas; daughter, Christine Painter and husband, Gary of Relands, California; grandchildren, Ericca, Brandon, Arin, Rachelle and Elyse; great grandchild, Jonas; sister Josette Bauscasse of France; brother Jacques Sarlandie of France. And a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Loney Duncan and her parents Jean and Marthe Sarlandie.

I met Jeannine at Richardson Church, and she invited me to a grief recovery program after church. It was just the thing I needed. I was very new to Richardson Church and I don't know how Jeannine knew I had recently suffered a loss, I had not told anyone about it. A beautiful soul, that God used many times to touch the lives of many people. She had a way of making everyone feel special and loved. She was interested in people and cared deeply. Years later when my friend and I graduated nursing school, she hosted a woman's lunch at her house to celebrate our success. Such an inspiration. If I could be half of what she was, I would be happy
