Jearlean Cameron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary from Dec. 10 to Dec. 17, 2025.
Jearlean Richardson Cameron was born in Talladega, Alabama, on February 1, 1959, to the parents, Clarence and Ruth Jemison Richardson.

Jearlean accepted Christ at an early age and later joined Kelly Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member. She served in the following roles: deaconess, member of the Nurse's Guild, and usher.

Jearlean graduated from Talladega High School in 1977 and furthered her education at Nunnely Technical College.

Mrs. Cameron married her soulmate, Harold Cameron, on March 21, 1987, and remained a faithful and loving wife until his untimely passing.

Mrs. Cameron entered the workforce at Spring Valley as a line manager. She worked for numerous years at Citizen Baptist Hospital as a dietitian. She later retired from the Talladega City School System in 2021 as a Child Nutrition Program Manager, serving Dixon Middle School and C.L. Salter Elementary School for 31 years.

Jearlean, affectionately known as "Sis," a beloved mother, aunt, family matriarch, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. She was surrounded by love and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and togetherness. Her smile and "hey baby" will forever be echoed in our hearts.

"Sis" was known for her love of cooking and the joy she found in feeding those she loved. Her kitchen was the heart of countless family gatherings, where recipes were shared, stories were told, and everyone was made to feel at home. She took great pride in hosting family, believing there was always room for one more chair at the table.

An avid gardener, she found peace in planting flowers and nurturing them to bloom, just as she did the people in her life. Her home and yard reflected her care and attention-always colorful, welcoming, and full of life. She was also delighted in playing cards, cherishing the laughter, friendly competition, and conversation that came with every hand dealt. These moments, simple yet meaningful, were some of her greatest joys.

Above all, Jearlean will be remembered for her kindness, her steady presence, and the love she so freely gave. You could always catch her on Saturdays screaming, "Roll Tide!" One of her greatest joys came from caring for her twin, Lil Bit, and hearing the word "Gigi" spoken by her grandbabies. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth Richardson; her devoted husband, Harold Cameron; and her brothers, John, Willie, and Michael Jemison.

Jearlean's memories will be cherished by her daughter, NeQuetta Richardson of Moody, Alabama; stepdaughter, NaKeisa Thomas of Jackson, Mississippi; and sons, LeVar Richardson of Talladega, Alabama, and Devarus Cameron of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by her beloved twin sister, Earlean Richardson of Talladega, Alabama; grandchildren, MiAzjah Richardson, Na'Shay Richardson, and Taeyonna McNeil; and great-grandchildren, Tamauze, KeAzjah, Kaligha, and Taariq.

In addition, she leaves to cherish her memory her goddaughter, Tameca (Norvell)Threatt; nieces, Kyrel (Nakia) Simmons, Shirley Barclay, Shelia Barclay, Lawanda Keith, Evette Cochran, Gladys (Mark) Estelle, and Nikki Jemsion; nephews, Gerald Barclay, Ronald Barclay, and Terrence Mosley; and her lifelong best friend, Evelyn (Kenneth) Pickens. Her memories will forever be cherished by countless cousins, relatives, co-workers and friends.
