Jeff Peppers

ROCKFORD - Jeffery Lee Peppers, age 62, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, with family by his side. He was born in Rockford on June 11, 1963, to J.C. and Phyllis (Matthews) Peppers.

Jeff was hardworking, fun-loving, and always thinking of others. He found joy in searching for the perfect gift, knickknacks, and chili pepper collectibles at garage sales or among curbside treasures. Every day, he stopped by the Shell gas station on Forest Hills for his coffee/Mountain Dew, and a pack of smokes - a simple routine that brought him joy and a smile to those who knew him there.

Jeff loved being "Poopah" to his grandchildren - they were his greatest pride and joy. Known for his silly, childlike spirit, he cherished every laugh, hug, and chance to spoil them, a role he treasured with all his heart.

Always being the first to show up and the last to leave, Jeff could be counted on to help, to laugh, and to make everyone feel welcome. His presence brought warmth and life to every gathering, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

A beloved dad, brother, uncle, "Poopah," and dear friend, he will be forever missed and eternally held in our hearts.

Jeff is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Jason) Hughes; grandchildren, Rylie and Finley Hughes; siblings, Gregory (Julie) Peppers, Michael Peppers, Jane (Jason) Sarwar, Jan (Jason) Martin, Judy (Tom) Sahlstrom, and Tina (Dale) Haygood; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. He is predeceased by his fiancée, Teresa Warren; brother, Joseph Dale Peppers; sister, Kathy Ann Peppers; and his parents.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford. Visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.
