Obituary
Carl Jeffrey "Jeff" Stitt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, coach, and teacher, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on March 25, 2023, at Dublin Glenn Memory Center, Dublin, OH. Jeff was born in Zanesville, OH to parents Robert and Virginia (Boyer) Stitt. Jeff was as kind as he was tall, touching the lives of countless individuals in his community and beyond.
Jeff is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Linda (Eldridge) of Xenia, OH; their son, Marcus Jeffrey (Erin) Stitt; his much adored grandchildren, Julia and Evan Stitt, and brother, Robert Joe (Sandy) Stitt. A graduate of West Muskingum High School, he earned a Bachelor's from Harding University and a Master's from Xavier University. He also honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Jeff taught at Zanesville City Schools for 33 years. He coached many sports, earning the affectionate title of "Coach" from those who had the privilege of knowing him. Jeff also served as a Boy Scout leader, helping 14 boys earn their Eagle Scout award. As a member of North Terrace Church of Christ, he served in many ways including service projects and leading activities at VBS. Throughout his life and even in retirement, Jeff was known as a giving person who always went out of his way to help others and will be missed by all that were lucky enough to know him.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where services will be held at 11:00 A.M Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the funeral home with Mr. William L. Meaige officiating. Following the service full military honors will be provided on the front yard by the United States Army with the assistance of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
Jeff was passionate about basketball and Zanesville City Schools. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations of a basketball to be given at the visitation for the benefit of the students in the district.
