Jeffery "Jeff" Allen Slusser, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at his residence.
He was born on December 19, 1965 in Marion to John Clarence Slusser and Linda Irene (Oswalt) Slusser.
Jeff graduated from Marion High School in 1984.
He married Kelly Jo (Douglas) Slusser on February 12, 1984. She passed away on May 2, 2022.
Jeff married Pamela "Pam" Sue (Cosner) Slusser on September 7, 2024 at Matter Park in Marion.
He worked for Hillcroft Services, providing day services for adults with disabilities. Previously, he was employed at Blackford Junior Senior High School as the athletic grounds keeper and served as a classroom aid. He held the position of sexton at Hartford City Cemetery for several years, where he contributed to the maintenance of the cemetery. His work history also includes positions at Marion and Wilson Vault Company. He was formerly an EMT, working with local ambulance services as well and Rural Metro Ambulance in Anderson, and received the Governor's Cup Advanced EMT award. In his early career, he worked at Hooks Drug Store.
Jeff always made time for his family, cherishing his children as the light of his life. Becoming a papaw was a role he treasured above all. He made it a priority to attend every event that he could that involved his loved ones, rarely missing a moment. Jeff also had a passion for adventure, especially when it came to catching a Cincinnati Reds game with those closest to him.
For 25 years, he was deeply involved in the Blackford County soccer program, dedicating his time to coaching and mentoring young athletes. His passion for the youth league was evident, as he guided players in grasping the fundamentals of soccer and helped them develop the advanced skills needed to compete at higher levels. In addition to his years of service, he also served as the Blackford High School Boys Soccer Coach for five years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Pamela "Pam" S. Slusser of Hartford City; sons, Douglas A. (wife, Rebecca) Slusser of Muncie, Jon T. "J.T." (wife, Heather) Slusser of Cicero and Jacob A. (wife, Catherine) Slusser of Fishers; daughters, Andrea J. Shields of Dunkirk and Kara A. (husband, Brandon) Reiber of Bluffton; grandchildren, Luke Slusser, Allison Slusser, Samantha Slusser, John Slusser, Steven Shields, Audrey Shields, Lincoln Slusser, Paisley Slusser, Leo Slusser, Bronson Slusser and James Reiber; brother, Bradley "Brad" A. Slusser of Syracuse; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11 AM Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City with Pastor Tom Fett officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 PM Wednesday, July 30, 2025 and from 10 to 11 AM Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
