Jeffrey Dan Barlowe, 69, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023.
Jeff was born in Gaston County on June 2, 1954 to the late Walter J. “Bill” Barlowe, Jr. & Jane Gordon Barlowe.
Jeff devoted his life to service. He was an ambulance driver for the Gaston County Life Saving Crew & later transitioned into law enforcement. After devoting 28 years, Jeff retired from the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office in 2010. He also spent two decades as an instructor for Gaston College’s BLET Program where he taught firearms & defensive driving to prospective officers. Jeff received multiple accolades for his marksmanship & oversaw firearms instruction within the Sheriff’s Office.
After retirement, Jeff focused on being the best father & grandfather he could be. He loved attending his grandson Jacob’s sporting events & was never shy about showing his enthusiasm. He gained interest in collectibles & started a small business selling & trading. He had a lifelong passion for NASCAR & drag racing. Jeff loved animals & specifically his dogs. The main things people remember about Jeff are his sense of humor & his strong sense of fairness. His daughter describes his humor as witty & sarcastic. “If you knew him, you knew his grin, his jokes & his laugh.” He has given his family & friends a lifetime of wonderful memories & will never be forgotten.
Jeff is survived by his daughter, Ashley Barlowe Whitlock; brother, Jim Barlowe (Cara); grandson, Jacob Whitlock; nephew, Jimmy Barlowe; and great-nephew, Bentley Barlowe.
He was preceded in death by wife, Lynn Barlowe & nephew, Tyler Stramaglia.
