Jeffrey Rex Byergo, 67, Bronaugh, MO passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at his home in Bronaugh. Rex was born September 1, 1957 in Maryville, MO to Forrest Emmet and Mary Louise (Mayes) Byergo. He married Ellen E. Klaassen in 1991.
Rex was raised in Barnard, MO. He graduated from Barnard High School in 1975, received a bachelor's degree from NW Missouri State University in Maryville, and then attended Veterinary School at the University of Missouri and where he received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Rex came to Nevada in 1989, and in 1993 opened his own practice, Countryside Animal Hospital. During the 90's he began raising Registered Angus cattle and continued raising them for 31 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association.
He is survived by two sons, Justin Byergo (Lorina), Nevada, and Cameron Byergo, Webb City; a stepson, Matt Coons, Golden City, MO; three grandchildren Laney Coons, Jett Byergo, and Kolt Byergo; brothers, Steve, Andy, and Joe and sisters, Mara, Trudy, Jenny, Sue and their spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rex spent his life helping strangers, some who would become close friends. He unconditionally loved his children, which was known by the way he spoke of their accomplishments. He had a passion for Angus cattle and an eye that was hard to beat. He was very proud of his grandchildren and all of their activities, and they sure loved their "papa". Not every moment was his best moment, but the intention was always there.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
Memorials are suggested in his memory to Junior Angus Association Scholarship fund c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
