Sheri Lynn Byergo, 77, of Tipton passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025.
She was born on July 1, 1947, in St. Charles, MO, to Frances Woodrow and Ethel Elizabeth (Groshong) Sheets. On June 7, 1970, in Troy, MO, she married Forrest Stephen Byergo who survives of the home.
Sheri dedicated her life to education, inspiring countless students during her long career as a teacher of Social Studies and English. Over the years she taught at Fulton, Versailles, Clarksburg and Tipton. She had a special passion for helping children who faced adversity, including those coming from challenging circumstances and those who were bullied. She made a profound difference in the lives of so many young people, inspiring confidence and resilience in those who needed it most. Her warmth and unwavering support left an indelible mark on her students.
A woman of strong faith, Sheri was an active and cherished member of the Tipton United Methodist Church. She also found joy and purpose in her memberships with P.E.O. and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), through which she fostered lifelong friendships and a sense of community.
Sheri's greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted grandmother, and nothing brought her more happiness than cheering on her grandchildren at their activities. Whether it was at cheerleading competitions, dance recitals, or volleyball games, Sheri was their biggest fan.
Her love for sports extended to her beloved Missouri Tigers, where she could often be found in the stands at football and basketball games, proudly sporting black and gold.
Sheri will be remembered for her warm smile, her generous heart, and her love of life, family, and faith.
She is survived by her husband Forrest Stephen Byergo of 54 years; two sons, Stephen Scott Byergo (Amy) of Columbia, MO, Brad Byergo (Susie) of Chesterfield, MO; four granddaughters, Anna, Ella, Allison, and Katherine; two siblings, Myron Sheets (Mary) of St. Charles, MO, and Zenda Folta (Jerry) of Troy, MO.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Tipton United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tipton United Methodist Church.
